The 2025–2026 Camry uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Toyota Camry key guide.

New XV80 generation: push-button start is standard on all trims (hands-free entry standard only on upper trims), but aftermarket programming support for the new 4A smart key is still maturing — all-keys-lost may require Toyota server access, specialist bench work, or dealer service, and we confirm current tool coverage before quoting.
What kind of key does the 2025 Camry use?
The 2025 Camry is the new XV80 generation, and it uses a smart proximity key. Push-button start is standard on every trim. The car reads the fob when it is inside the cabin, so there is no ignition keyway to turn. Hands-free entry is standard only on the upper trims, so what your fob does at the door depends on which Camry you bought.
The chip family for this year is 4A, which is NXP Hitag AES. That detail is verified against the sources we use for transponder data. It matters because it is a newer chip than the one in many older Toyota keys. A fob cut or built for an earlier Camry will not work here, even if it looks similar. Do not buy a used or generic fob online and expect it to be a quick fix.
Your fob also holds a mechanical backup key. That is the emergency key for a dead fob battery or a car that will not unlock electronically. If you have lost the fob, the backup key may be all you have left, and it does not start the car by itself.
Duplicate a key, or replace after all keys are lost?
These are two different jobs on this car. For a duplicate, you still have a working original, and that is the case our data supports: an original key is needed to make a copy. With a working fob in hand, we can add a spare without starting from scratch.
All-keys-lost is where things are less settled. Our data does not confirm whether every all-keys-lost situation can be handled on this model year. It also does not confirm the programming method. Aftermarket support for this new 4A smart key is still maturing. Depending on the car, a lost-everything job may need Toyota server access, specialist bench work, or dealer service. We will not promise a route before we know what your Camry needs.
If you still have one fob, do not wait until it fails to make a spare. Having a spare made while you hold a working key is almost always the simpler, lighter-cost path compared with replacing keys after the last one disappears.
What affects the price of a 2025 Camry key?
We do not quote a number before we know your situation, and we do not guess over the phone. These are the things that move the cost on a smart-key Camry:
- Whether you have a working original key or have lost every key, since the all-keys-lost route may involve more steps or tools.
- Which programming route your VIN requires, including whether it needs Toyota server access, bench work or the dealer.
- The fob itself. Replacing a lost smart fob costs more than a plain bladed key did on older cars.
- Whether you need one key or a spare as well.
- Where the car is. A car that cannot move may need our mobile van to come to it, while one that can be driven can come to our Westwood storefront.
- Fob condition. A fob with a weak battery is a very different job from one that has been through water.
Locked out or need a locksmith now?
We answer around the clock, every day of the year.
Call (213) 577-1366What we cannot confirm yet, and how we handle it
This year's record is marked unverified for programming. We do not know the exact method, and we do not know whether a specialist tool is required. We say so rather than guess. Tool coverage for new models changes, so we check current coverage before we give you a quote, not after we have started the work.
Here is how a call or visit usually goes:
- You call (213) 577-1366 and tell us the trim, whether you have any working fob, and where the car is.
- We take the VIN and confirm the key type and chip on your exact car.
- We check whether current tools cover your situation, or whether the job needs bench work or the dealer. If it is dealer-only, we tell you plainly.
- You hear the options and what drives the cost before any work starts.
- We cut or supply the key, program it, and test start, lock and unlock before we hand it over.
Common 2025 Camry key problems and who to call
Our data lists three common problems for this setup. The first is fob battery failure, which shows up as a 'key not detected' message. Try the mechanical backup key to get in, and replace the battery before you assume the fob is dead. The second is cost: a lost smart fob is more expensive to replace than an older bladed key. The third is water damage. A fob that has been through the wash or a pocket in the rain can stop working, and a fresh battery will not always fix it.
Wilshire Lock & Key has been in business since 1987, with a storefront at 10740 Wilshire Blvd in Westwood and mobile vans. You deal with one company, not a dispatch middleman, and David oversees the work. California requires locksmith companies to hold a BSIS LCO license, and you should ask any locksmith for it before they start. For more, see our Toyota key pages, the general Camry key page, or contact us with your VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 2025 Toyota Camry have a push-button start?
Yes. Push-button start is standard on all trims of the new XV80 generation. Hands-free entry is standard only on the upper trims.
What chip does the 2025 Camry key use?
The verified chip family is 4A, which is NXP Hitag AES. We still confirm the exact key by VIN, because the method for programming it is not verified in our data.
Can you make a spare if I still have one working fob?
That is the case our data supports. An original key is needed to duplicate, so a working fob in hand is the best starting point. We confirm tool coverage for your VIN before quoting.
Can you replace a 2025 Camry key if I lost every key?
Possibly, but we cannot promise it. Support for this new smart key is still maturing, and the job may need Toyota server access, specialist bench work or dealer service. We check current coverage first and tell you plainly if it is dealer-only.
My Camry says the key is not detected. Is the fob broken?
Often it is the fob battery, which is a common problem on this setup. Use the mechanical backup key to open the door and replace the battery first. If the fob has been wet, it may be damaged instead.
Will a cheap online fob work in my 2025 Camry?
Not reliably. The 2025 uses a newer 4A chip, and a fob made for an earlier Camry will not work. Call us with your VIN before you buy one.
