The 2007–2010 Camry uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Toyota Camry key guide.

What key does a 2007 Camry use?
Most 2007 Camrys use a remote-head key: one piece that holds the metal blade, the remote buttons, and a transponder chip inside the plastic head. The chip is the 4D-67 family, and that has been verified against several independent parts and key-supply references. The ignition is a regular twist-and-turn cylinder, not a push button.
What that means for you: a blade cut at a hardware counter will turn the ignition, but the car will not start unless the chip is programmed to the car. The chip and the cut both have to be right.
The car also has a mechanical backup key, so there is a physical way to get into the vehicle and turn the lock even when the electronics are the problem.
- Key type: remote-head key with transponder
- Chip family: 4D-67
- Ignition: standard twist, no push-to-start
- Programming: through the OBD port
Duplicate key or all keys lost?
These are two different jobs on this Camry, and the difference matters for how smoothly things go.
With a working key in hand, we can copy the cut and program a new key to the car. The original key is needed for a straight duplication, so if you are down to one key, this is the moment to make a spare rather than waiting until it breaks or disappears.
If every key is gone, a new key can still be made. It takes more steps because there is no existing key to work from. We cut a key for the lock, then program the chip to the car through the OBD port. You do not have to tow the car to a dealer for this to happen on a 2007 Camry setup.
- Tell us the year, model, and whether you have any working key.
- We confirm the key and chip for your car, by VIN if there is any doubt.
- We cut the blade to fit your ignition and door locks.
- We program the transponder and remote to the car through the OBD port.
- We test starting, locking, and unlocking before you drive away.
What affects the price of a 2007 Camry key?
We do not quote numbers on a web page because the job changes with the situation. These are the things that move the cost:
- Whether you have a working key or all keys are lost, since lost-key work takes more time.
- Whether you need a plain remote-head key or a remote that also needs its buttons and shell in good shape.
- Where the car is. Coming to you with a mobile van is different from you coming to our Westwood storefront at 10740 Wilshire Blvd.
- Time of day. We answer around the clock, and a late-night call is a different effort from a weekday visit.
- How many keys you want made at once.
Locked out or need a locksmith now?
We answer around the clock, every day of the year.
Call (213) 577-1366Common 2007 Camry key problems
Three problems come up repeatedly with this year. Ignition wafers wear on high-mileage cars, and a key that sticks, jiggles, or turns only some of the time may point to the cylinder rather than the key. Remote-head shells crack and the buttons wear down, which is a shell issue and often not a chip issue. Remote batteries also fail, so before replacing anything, make sure a dead battery is not the whole story.
If the key turns but the car will not start, or the remote has stopped working, tell us which it is when you call. It helps us arrive with the right parts.
One thing we confirm by VIN
Toyota offered an optional smart-key push-button system on some 2007 trims and hybrids, using an HYQ14AAB fob that is DST40-based. The standard twist ignition is what the verified 4D-67 data describes. If your Camry has a push button instead of a keyhole, tell us, and we will confirm the exact system by VIN or in person before we promise anything on that setup.
Any locksmith company in California should hold a BSIS LCO license, and you can ask us or anyone else for the number. We have been in business since 1987, and David oversees the work. Frequently asked questions
Does a 2007 Toyota Camry have a transponder key?
Yes. The standard 2007 Camry uses a remote-head key with a 4D-67 transponder chip. The car will not start unless the chip is programmed to it.
Can you make a 2007 Camry key if I lost all of them?
Yes. All-keys-lost is possible for this setup. We cut a new key and program it to the car through the OBD port.
Do I need the original key to make a copy?
For a straight duplication, yes, the original key is needed. If you have no key at all, we handle it as an all-keys-lost job.
Is the 2007 Camry programmed through the OBD port?
Yes. Programming is done through the OBD port, and it does not require NASTF SDRM access.
My 2007 Camry has a push-button start. Is that different?
It can be. Some trims and hybrids had an optional smart-key system with an HYQ14AAB fob. We confirm by VIN or in person what your car has before we proceed.
My key turns hard in the ignition. Is it the key?
Not always. Worn ignition wafers are a known issue on high-mileage 2007 Camrys. We can check whether the key or the ignition is causing it.
Will you come to me?
Yes. We run mobile service vans in addition to our storefront at 10740 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024. Call (213) 577-1366.
