Many US turn-key Souls of this era lack an immobilizer and were major targets of the 2021-2023 theft wave; published lists conflict on the exact Soul years (HLDI reporting covers 2011-2021 turn-key Kias broadly, while settlement class-list summaries (ConsumerAffairs; CarPro) list the Soul only for 2020-2022). We test the car before cutting; when a chip is present it is Philips ID46, OBD-programmed.
