The 2004–2010 X3 uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the BMW X3 key guide.

EWS system through the end of E83 production — no CAS, no slot. Catalog fitment ranges conflict for this final model year: most key catalogs list the E83 key as 2003-2009 (or narrower), and only a single catalog extends it to 2010 — no source shows a different key system for 2010, but we confirm the key by VIN and FCC ID (LX8FZV family) before cutting. When confirmed, it is the same routine EWS job: keys are originated from the EWS module data on the bench (AK90/Abrites EWS3-class tools) — all-keys-lost is routine specialist work, no working key needed.
Same key system as the 2004–2010 X3
BMW kept the X3's key system unchanged across 2004–2010, so everything about replacing a 2010 key — blanks, programming, and what happens if every key is lost — matches the rest of that run. The full year-by-year breakdown lives in our BMW X3 key guide.
What drives the price is the key type, whether you still have a working key, and where the car is parked. There's more on BMW programming in general on our BMW key page.
