The 2003–2009 Sorento uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Kia Sorento key guide.

Immobilizer fitment varies on US first-generation Sorentos and catalogs conflict on the chip: the catalogs that list one point to Philips ID46 for the BL generation (transpondery.com and locksmith references), while the era's US-vendor 4D-60 keys (KK7) are documented for the related Amanti — we test the car and read the original key before quoting. Cars without an immobilizer need only a mechanically cut key.
Same key system as the 2003–2009 Sorento
Kia kept the Sorento's key system unchanged across 2003–2009, so everything about replacing a 2009 key — blanks, programming, and what happens if every key is lost — matches the rest of that run. The full year-by-year breakdown lives in our Kia Sorento key guide.
What drives the price is the key type, whether you still have a working key, and where the car is parked. There's more on Kia programming in general on our Kia key page.
