The 2017–2020 Elantra uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Hyundai Elantra key guide.

2019 Hyundai Elantra: key facts

Key type: Mechanical (no chip)
Push-to-start: No
Transponder chip: None
Programming: NONE
All keys lost: We can originate new keys on site

Still on Hyundai's anti-theft update list: base turn-key trims have no immobilizer (a 2020-era installer forum confirms US cars have no chip unless push-to-start). Smart-key trims are listed by some catalogs as Texas DST-AES '8A' and by others as Hitag-3 ID47 — we identify the chip on the vehicle. Equipped trims program via OBD.

Same key system as the 2017–2020 Elantra

Hyundai kept the Elantra's key system unchanged across 2017–2020, so everything about replacing a 2019 key — blanks, programming, and what happens if every key is lost — matches the rest of that run. The full year-by-year breakdown lives in our Hyundai Elantra key guide.

What drives the price is the key type, whether you still have a working key, and where the car is parked. There's more on Hyundai programming in general on our Hyundai key page.
