The 2021–2026 F-150 uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Ford F-150 key guide.

2023 Ford F-150: key facts

Key type: Smart / proximity key
Push-to-start: Yes
Transponder chip: Varies by trim — we confirm by VIN
Programming: Confirmed per vehicle — call us
All keys lost: Depends on trim — call to confirm

Most trims are push-button smart key; base XL work trucks keep a bladed remote-head key — confirm per truck. Chip family is our era knowledge, not verified this session. NASTF's own service guidance confirms PATS functions through Ford FDRS/FJDS with a non-dealer login require NASTF VSP credentials or an OEM-assisted immobilizer request; aftermarket tool coverage for these years varies — we confirm current coverage before quoting, and say plainly if a job is dealer-or-VSP-only.

Same key system as the 2021–2026 F-150

Ford kept the F-150's key system unchanged across 2021–2026, so everything about replacing a 2023 key — blanks, programming, and what happens if every key is lost — matches the rest of that run. The full year-by-year breakdown lives in our Ford F-150 key guide.

What drives the price is the key type, whether you still have a working key, and where the car is parked. There's more on Ford programming in general on our Ford key page.
