The 2025–2026 Equinox uses the same key setup, so everything on this page applies to those years too. The full picture is on the Chevrolet Equinox key guide.

2026 Chevrolet Equinox: key facts

Key type: Smart / proximity key
Push-to-start: Yes
Transponder chip: Varies by trim — we confirm by VIN
Programming: Confirmed per vehicle — call us
All keys lost: Depends on trim — call to confirm

New generation on GM's latest electrical architecture; catalogs disagree on the key system (one lists Megamos AES ID88, another still shows an ID46-era part that is almost certainly wrong) — we confirm the system from the vehicle and the fob's FCC ID before quoting. Aftermarket tool coverage is still maturing and all-keys-lost may be dealer- or specialist-only for now. All-keys-lost on this electrical architecture may require GM server access (ACDelco SPS2) with NASTF VSP-credentialed tooling or dealer service depending on the tool — confirmed per job.

Same key system as the 2025–2026 Equinox

Chevrolet kept the Equinox's key system unchanged across 2025–2026, so everything about replacing a 2026 key — blanks, programming, and what happens if every key is lost — matches the rest of that run. The full year-by-year breakdown lives in our Chevrolet Equinox key guide.

What drives the price is the key type, whether you still have a working key, and where the car is parked. There's more on Chevrolet programming in general on our Chevrolet key page.
