Slot-fob car (insert fob in dash slot, press Start; Comfort Access optional). German trade sources put CAS1 in the early E60 and CAS3 in later cars, while key catalogs sell one ID46 key family across 2004-2010 — the procedure (not the key part) varies with the module, so we confirm the CAS generation per VIN. CAS slot-key car: the fob inserts into a dash slot and the Start button fires the car (hands-free Comfort Access was optional). Add-a-key and all-keys-lost are documented OBD procedures for E-series CAS3/CAS3+ (e.g., Abrites BN014/BN016); late CAS3+ 'ISTAP' firmware can require a flash downgrade first — specialist, not dealer-only.
